The Lear 55 Medium Jet is manufactured by Learjet Inc between 1981 and 1993. The cabin measures 13.7 feet long by 5.9 feet wide by 5.7 feet tall giving it a total cabin volume of 407 cubic feet making it comfortable for 8 passengers, with the maximum configuration seating 8. The baggage compartment can hold up to 8.6 bags assuming your average piece of luggage is less than 5 cubic feet. The Lear 55 has a maximum range (not including headwinds, high altitude, hot temperatures, or higher capacity) of 2346 miles and a maximum speed of 527 mph. The Learjet 55 ""Longhorn"" was first proposed as three separate models; the Lear 54, Lear 55, and the Lear 56, but only the Lear 55 was ever built. The aircraft evolved from the Lear 55A to the Lear 55XR. The B model extended range and added a much needed multi-tube EFIS cockpit. There were only 8 B models manufactured and production evolved once again into the Lear 55C. The C model added a change to the underside of the aircraft and the addition of the Delta Fins for increased stability. The Lear 55C also improved runway performance for landing. One of the major developments for this aircraft was the increased cabin space. With up to 50 percent more cabin space, passengers can stretch out and enjoy their flight. The cabin measures 5.7 feet high, 5.9 feet wide, and 13.7 feet long. Instead of adding additional seating, designers at Learjet decided to leave the cabin open, to provide passengers with more comfort and amenities than previous aircraft designs.
